- Do I need a note for all rehearsals?- No, the Code of Conduct covers your permission to stay for rehearsals and tech week.
- Do I have to go to every rehearsal?- No, check the rehearsal schedule to see when you are required.
- What time is rehearsal?- 3-5pm except Tech Week when it is 3-6pm at BHS
- Where should my parents pick me up?- At the cafeteria doors. Except Tech Week then pick up will be at BHS.
- Can I use the vending machines in the cafeteria?- We will give you time to have snack at the beginning of rehearsal. If your parents approve, you may use the vending machine then, but we are not going to be snacking throughout rehearsal.
- When is the performance?- Friday and Saturday November 20 & 21 7PM.
- What if it snows and school is canceled? There will be no rehearsal if school is closed.
- Do we have rehearsals on days there is no school scheduled?- No.
- Am I allowed to use my electronic device at rehearsals? No. We may make exceptions to call parents for emergencies.
- Why can't we use our devices?- We are following FCPS policy and Mrs. Keiling's directives.
- Do I have to come to all the rehearsals during Tech Week?- Yes absolutely mandatory.
- What if I have other commitments during Tech Week?- We have advertised Tech Week and our desire for mandatory attendance well in advance. We hope that you will plan accordingly. If you are in other activities during Tech Week, we hope you will make the play your priority for just this one week.
- Why does it seem to me that other people got better parts than me?- Parts were assigned by our professional director who has more than 10 years experience doing her job. She assigned parts according to your auditions/abilities/experience not the grade you are in. Now that you are in middle school your abilities compared to your peers are much more even than say when you were in elementary school. For example, it might make sense in elementary school to give bigger roles with greater challenge to older students like 4th and 5th graders, because a 2nd or 3rd grader may not be mature enough, and able enough to handle a lead role. That is not the case in middle school. You are on an equal playing field now and 6th graders are likely to have as much ability/experience to play a lead role as 8th graders.
- What do I do if I am unhappy with my part and want to drop out of the play?- If you are unhappy with your part, we hope that you will take time to listen to the music cd and read through the play. Please consider that not everyone can have a lead role and that all parts in a play are very important. While you might think the number of lines you have defines the goodness of your part, there is much more to a musical than just lines. Everyone participates in the songs and dances and the telling of the story. Whether you perceive your part as big or small, it's the way you perform your part that makes you stand out on stage. Please also understand that we need all of you to make this a successful program so that we may provide this opportunity again. If after considering all of this you are still sure you do not want to participate, please let us know as soon as possible. mailto:[email protected]
- What do I do if I have an appointment on a day I have play practice?- If your appointment was scheduled before you signed up to be in the play and it is impossible to reschedule, then by all means you should go to your appointment. Please let us know so we are aware why you will be missing. If you are scheduling appointments now, please try very hard to schedule around your play rehearsal days. I would suggest keeping your rehearsal schedule with you when you go to appointments, so when you can work around your rehearsal days.
